IS THIS ALANIS OR ROBIN SPARKLES?

Well, this is not exactly your usual Alanis.

You may or may not know that before selling a gazillion copies of ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Alanis Morissette had already released a couple of pop albums, reaching a certain degree of success in her native Canada.

To brutally summarize, we can say those albums are Robin Sparkles’ version of Alanis Morissette, but only those of you who watched ‘How I Met Your Mother’ will catch this reference.

If you want to enjoy this post to its fullest, please take 8 minutes of your time, scroll down and watch her videos for the singles ‘Too Hot’ and ‘Walk Away’, the latter featuring none other than Matt LeBlanc playing her love interest.

Yep, Alanis looking straight out of an episode of ‘The Goldbergs’ and Joey Tribbiani trying to reconcile after standing her up. You can’t make this up.

The music, I promise, wasn’t even remotely as bad as you might be thinking right now. The songs were absolutely catchy and well crafted. A collection of earworms that will get stuck in your head, especially if you have a thing for late 80’s/early 90’s female dance pop (Exposé come to mind here and there).

Without any irony, I admit that I, ahem, would pick this album over any Alanis record that’s not ‘Jagged Little Pill’.
